Discussion:

On behalf of ACS Principals, Mrs. Manley presented a letter to board members thanking them for being advocates for our students and investing in the support and growth of our school system.
Mrs. Conley was on the right track to solve the joke, "Why did the school board members bring a ladder to the meeting?" Because they wanted to take education to the next level and that is what our ACS board does!
Dr. Clark expressed her appreciation to board members for their dedication to the position and support that allows us to fulfill the goal of supporting the schools, employees and students.
"What is a School Board?" Noah Certion, communications intern/AHS work-based student, created a video getting students' perspectives on the subject.

6.A. Chairman's Report

Discussion:

Michelle McKissack, SCS Board of Education member, is in attendance tonight to evaluate the meeting. She is working at obtaining Level 4 Boardmanship through TSBA. Ms. McKissack expressed her appreciation for the meeting environment and top notch ACS school system.
A new football coach has been hired, Jeb Jones, and is already interacting with the students and making a positive impact on the program.
Mr. Benjamin encourages board members to continue to take advantage of TSBA Boardmanship opportunities and continued growth in our position.

6.B. Superintendent's Report

Discussion:

100th Day of School for AES and DES. Highlights can be viewed on the ACS Facebook page.
Top Workplace Banquet will be on February 6th.
Family Life Curriculum preview will be February 13th at the district office.
AHS will host LEAD Arlington on February 20th. This is a great opportunity to see our students in action in a lot of our programs that we offer.
The Superintendent's Leadership Roundtable committee has selected 2 options for the 2026-27 instructional calendar. The instructional calendar survey will be sent on February 3rd to all stakeholders and brought to the board for approval in February.
AHS Art students bring home 5 of the 10 top awards at the West TN Regional Art Exhibit. Artwork by AHS Senior, Maddie McDonald, will be on a billboard near the Jackson, Tennessee area.
AHS was awarded Gold-level as a Safe Stars Initiative for athletes. The initiative, which is a commitment to insure the well-being of our student athletes, was comprehensive work by many.
Portrait of a Graduate is an ongoing work. The benefit, from the Legacy Grant to School Links, is what helps develop a comprehensive needs assessment for our students. Such as, the requirement for 9th graders to take computer science and the path that our students are interested in pursuing.
The latest PEP Talks Podcast episode on Parenting Stress is now available.
FLEX Offerings is being reviewed to find ways to tweak the program.
AHS Alumni Panel was held in January for the Class of 2025 Seniors.
AHS Band and Orchestra were selected to perform at the IKEA Grand Re-opening.

Mr. Hill, Chief of Communication:

Legacy Grants, $330,000.00 have been awarded up to January 2025.
AHS Bound Night will take place tonight at 6:00 at AHS for upcoming 9th graders and new students to AHS.
PEP Talks are a wide variety of topics and are designed to help parents parent which provides the lens we look through to develop upcoming podcasts.
ACS created the One Book which provides a comprehensive list of all the courses and programs that we offer. The One Book is also a tool for board members to share with their constituents and those that express interest in our school system.

Mrs. Walker, Executive Director of Human Resources:

Staffing:
- Certified - all field
- Classified - open SPED Assistant at AHS
Employee Attendance Rate: 95%
Substitute Fill Rate: Increased from 89% to 90%
Intent Survey:
- Certified - 4 retiring, 1 resigning
- Classified - 2 retiring, 2 resigning
The Annual Teacher Job Fair is coming up on February 18th from 5:15 p.m - 6:30 p.m. Currently, there are 34 bookings.

Mr. Ruff, Chief of Operations:

The Softball Fieldhouse project is moving along as expected.
Closing in on the approval of Football Fieldhouse.
