August 16, 2019 at 2:30 PM - Jackson-Madison County School Board Special Called Meeting

Discussion:  Kevin Alexander, Chairman of the JMCSS Board, called the meeting to order by a moment of silence.

Discussion:  The JMCSS approved the August 16, 2019 JMCSS Special Called Board Meeting

Discussion:  Wayne Arnold withdrew his motion after much discussion concerning the study of lands.  Morris Merriweather made a motion to have the studies completed on both the Passmore Lane and the Ashport Road proprieties and Janice Hampton seconded Mr. Merriweather's motion.  Janice Hampton wanted to amend the motion by saying, to allow Ray Washington, Superintendent to use his discretion to move forward with the process of land studies.  Janice Hampton withdrew her second to Mr. Merriweather's motion and there was no further action on this motion because there was not another second to the motion.

Shannon Stewart made a motion to have Ray Washington, Superintendent, pay the funds that have already accrued with the studies of land at this time with Orcutt/Winslow contract and to terminate the contract as of August 16, 2019.  Ray Washington will use his discretion when speaking with Orcutt/Winslow on which studies have been taken and to pay that amount and then to terminate the exiting tests.    Wayne Arnold seconded the motion.  Shannon Stewart's motion passed with a seven to one vote with one absent.  Wayne Arnold = Yes, Doris Black = absent, Jim Campbell = Yes, Janice Hampton = Yes, Kevin Alexander = Yes, James Johnson = Yes, AJ Massey = Yes, Morris Merriweather = No and Shannon Stewart = Yes
