We have several recognition tonight of Employees of the months and our students, but before we get started with them Dr. King recognized the school principals and administrators and had them to stand. Dr. King will have a special announcement for the both Boys basketball team and the decathlon team. Coaches, Dr. King will present to the board for you to get a stipend in terms of additional work you have did. Mr. Hammond started by recognizing:
Employees of the Month: Tami Chitwood from the technology department and Tommy Harden from our maintenance dept. Several students in our district have competed and performed at the highest levels possible academically as well as athletically. At this time we will recognized the students with a 30 or above: Autumn McDonald from JCM Early College High and Brooklyn Blackwell from Madison Academic. Parents please stand. Thank you. All students will receive a purple cord at graduation to wear. At this time we will recognize the TSSAA high school basketball state tournament. Madison Academic boys basketball team and South Side. Madison finished the season with 25-3 wins, District 14A title as well as the region 7A crown. Head Coach Adam Simpson, assistant coaches Brennon Day, and Devarean Douglas. The Hawks finished the season with 25-2 wins and District 14AA title as well as the region 7AA crown where they finished the year as the state-runner up after a 1 pt decision to Greenville. Announcement Dr. King will pay for all 3 teams to go on a field trip to Memphis to their choice of Main Event bowling or Putt Putt Fun Center as a sign of his appreciation. Madison Academic Decathlon 2021 Region and state champions and today began the National competition April 28th - 30th. 18 consecutive state championships. 4 national championships; the Mustangs also have the Top scorer overall in honors, Scholastic, and Varsity categories. Coaches Linda Sikes Lane and Tiffany Soriano. HES Facilities Management provides educational institutions with custodial services and ground keeping. Regional Manager Collins Onyando and Josh Helton presented a check to JMCSS with a $10,000 check for scholarships. This is their 3rd year presenting a check to JMCSS. Our final presentation for the night Serenity Williams has been awarded the Navy's prestigious $180,000 ROTC Scholarship which will pay for four year expenses to attend Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, in which she is following her mothers foot steps. |

We had the pleasure to have had a visit from Commissioner Penny Schwinn as she visited Denmark Elementary this morning. I think she was very impressed with the work that has gone on in our school system during the pandemic and we received complete support from her. Also we attended the First Lady Luncheon with United Way. Thank you again for your support to the school system.
Board retreat May 1st so we will be ready by July. Primary focus of Board retreat will be ESSER 3.0. We will need to check with TSBA to see if we can get credit hours. Location of retreat will be announced. |
