5.A. Chairman's Report

Discussion:

TSBA
- Dr. Viox led the convention, with the theme "I Am..........because of public education", as he wrapped up his position of President on the TSBA Board of Directors. This position takes an incredible amount of time and dedication. A job well done, Dr. Viox.
- Student Government Association students, Noah Certion and Tricia Cronau, experienced the convention as they attended meetings and shadowed Dr. Viox.
The wrestling season starts this Thursday night at 6:00 p.m.
Thanksgiving lunches at our schools are coming up. Be sure to attend if you can.
Upcoming Holiday Events:
- 12/14: Arlington Christmas Parade will showcase the Superintendent, Teachers of the Year and our band.
- 12/20: Central Office Holiday Luncheon

5.B. Superintendent's Report

Discussion:

TSBA Highlights:
- Dr. Viox did a fantastic job organizing and leading the convention.
- Congratulations to Mr. Scott Benjamin on being recognized as part of the prestigious All-Tennessee School Board. This honor reflects his exemplary leadership, dedication to education, commitment to board development, local school improvement, and advocacy at all levels. His work is a testament to his passion for student success and community progress.
- Students Showcased at Opening Ceremony:
  - AHS: JROTC Color Guard - led by Mr. Block
  - AHS: A Major Chorus - led by Mr. Chipman
  - AMS: Ava Kessel (6th Grade) performed the National Anthem a cappella.
- AHS Student Government - led by Ms. Kelley:
  - Noah Certion (President) and Tricia Cronau (Vice-President) shadowed Dr. Viox throughout the convention.
Arlington Chamber Luncheon:
- Students (Michael Anderson, Kenadie Jennings, Noah Certion, Grayson Brandt, and Lila Murchison) represented ACS well as part of a panel discussion.
Q2 Celebration lunch is coming up December 9-12. Don't forget to sign up!
Our schools recognize our veterans and teach our students the importance of Veterans Day.
DES STEM Night was a huge success with 60% of students and parents attending.
AES hosted a Grandparent BINGO Night which strengthens the bond between our schools and their communities.
Mr. Mark McDonald and AHS Model UN will be attending the Harvard Mock Congress in February 2025 utilizing funds from the Legacy Grant. The students will also participate in a statewide conference and competition. A special thank you to Ms. Speakman for her dedication and collaboration to help prepare these students for this incredible experience.
Thank you for the continued support from everyone who continues to make Arlington Community Schools a shinning example of excellence! It takes all of us to make the A-Team.
