Discussion:

Superintendent Mason was interviewed by Chanel 10 Behind the Headlines.
Superintendent Mason placed 3rd at the Arlington 5K for her age group.
Board Self-Evaluation due next board meeting. Results will be reported at November meeting.

8.B. Superintendent's Report

Discussion:

Happy Birthday to Kay Williams
Recognition of Collegiate Academy students attending board meeting
Met with Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris. Mayor Harris created new position that will be a school liaison for the county.
Surplus funding for schools per Commissioner Amber Mills
AdvancedED not beneficial. Accreditation no longer required. ACS will withdrawal membership.
School Safety update - Grants approved and budgeted to ACS. Funds will be used to hire School Resource Officers, payment portion to SCSO for 3 officers, and safety equipment (panic buttons, additional interior/exterior camera, radios and classroom door window coverings).
Offer extended to candidate for School Safety Officer
ACS Administrators, Counselors, Nurses, CERT Team, Social & Transitional Specialists and other Central Office staff attended Prepared Training from TDOE on 8/31.
Thumb Locks installed (4 left at AES)
Lead Arlington dates: October 23 - Hosted by ACS, December 4 - Hosted by Chamber and March 5. Invited Board Members to attend at least one if possible.
MicroPort tour for students on October 5.
District Learning Team selected with first meeting on October 1
Acknowledge AHS Ambassadors for assistance at Tenured Teachers Reception.
