10. PIE Update - Kyle Page
Discussion:
The Board was given an update on the PIE Innovation Center by Kyle Page. He told the Board that the purpose of the high school programming in this off-site academy is to collaborate with business, industry, and community partners to provide learning opportunities which include a combination of classroom instruction, skill development, on-the-job training, and the application of real work and life skills that employers demand and that students will need to be successful after graduation. Mayor Davis and the Bradley County Commission worked faithfully to solidify the first step in making the PIE Innovation Center a reality by closing on the building on July 27, 2017. Since purchasing the building, teams have been created, students have received service hours and partnerships have been created through the building clean out. Marketing, Product, Process and Business Case teams have members from Bradley County Schools, local businesses, and non-profit organizations. They have their plans and are beginning to carry them out.
