We received bids for the Black Fox and North Lee additions and will award the bid and approve the contract at this special called meeting, Chairman Weathers told the Board.  We received bids from Cherokee Construction ($2,968,876.00), TriCon, Inc ($2,697.000.00), Wider Contracting ($2,459.000.00), and Wilson Construction ($2,440,000.00), Dr. Cash told them.   

Dr. Cash explained that there is $75.000.00 in contingence funds for each school.  A total of $150,000.00 that is built into the $2,284.700.00.  Chairman Weathers ask Dr. Cash to explain what contingence funds are.  It is money set aside that is not part of the actual construction.  It will be used for change orders or if we run into any unknowns.  If we don't use it, the money stays with the Board, Dr. Cash told them.  Mr. Weathers ask for clarification on the point that change orders are approved by the Board.  Dr. Cash told him yes.  

In 1999, at Black Fox we built a four room addition for $619,000.00 and 21 years later we are building another one for $1,100,000.00, Chairman Weathers told the Board.  We think we can build these building cheaper than we can.  If you look at the bids, there is $520,000.00 difference from the highest to the lowest bid. 

Before Chairman Weathers adjourned the meeting, he told the Board that the County Commission gave $750.000 toward the first addition and the Board is taking $750.000 out of the fund balance to pay for the second one.  The County Commission will refund $750.000 in their budget next year.  Where does that leave the fund balance, he ask Mrs. Willcutt.  She explained that the paperwork for the 1 million dollar amendment will be presented at the next Board meeting.  $300,000 will go to finish LFMS and $700,000 will go toward the Black Fox and North Lee addition project.  The Commission will give us $750.000 this fiscal year and then $750.000 next fiscal year.  If you add that up, we will have about 2.2 million so next year we may have to ask for alittle bit more to finish it up, she told the Board.
