In honor of National School Counseling Week, Mr. Sorrells, assisted by Student Services Coordinator Ginger Tepedino, honored school counselors Robyn Padgett, Carroll Cope, Jennifer Harris, Debbie Gage, Pamela Gentry, Mignonne Sawyer, Chris Coleman, Becky Cheatham, Susan Wild, Edna London, Jeannie Wiles, and Blair Goodman.

2.2. Classified Employee of the Month
Discussion:
Mr. Sorrells recognized Clyde Shelton as the Lewisburg Middle School Classified Employee of the Month.

4. Storm Ready

Discussion:
Support Services Supervisor Tres Beasley informed the board that the system has completed the requirements to become a Storm Ready School System, which is a program coordinated through the National Weather Service. Marshall County is one of only four systems in the state of Tennessee considered Storm Ready.

Discussion:
Mr. Beasley told the board that the system is ready to initiate the bid process for the baseball lights at Cornersville High School. He explained that one existing pole is in the field of play, while another is on property owned by the Cornersville Lions Club. When the new poles are installed, one or both poles will be installed on Lions Club property. In order to proceed, the board would need to agree on entering an easement agreement with the Cornersville Lions Club.

Mr. Sorrells stated that the County Commission has given the school system a new parcel of land that connects to the Forrest High School property.

11. New Business
Discussion:
During new business, the board and audience watched a video of the recent Rutherford County Career Fair, in which eighth graders from that area attended. Mr. Jones felt this would be a good event for this system's eighth graders.

12. Director's Report

Discussion:
During the Director's Report, Mr. Sorrells: thanked the Chapel Hill Lions Club for the deed to the field house at Forrest; thanked the County Commission for the deed to the additional property adjacent to Forrest School; reminded the board of the Storm Ready ceremony on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Hardison School annex; he is hoping to receive more information soon on the renovation and cost at Preston Hopkins; absenteeism was 8.5% on Thursday, 10% on Friday, and 10.6% today, and he is continually looking at numbers and monitoring in the event the percentage reaches 15%. Mr. Jones asked about the progress on roof repairs. Mr. Sorrells said that work is completed at the Central Office and Forrest School, work continues on the weekend at Cornersville School, and LMS is a big job that will take some time to complete.
