2. Effects on Closing Schools during Pandemic
Discussion:
Prior to discussing upcoming school trips, Mr. Sorrells updated the board on the effects of closing school from March 17 through Spring Break (April 3).
He stated: all eight stockpiled days will be used, plus one over, and Ms. Tepedino is working on a waiver to excuse that day; we will provide a sack lunch for any Marshall County student beginning Wednesday, March 17 between 11:00 and 12:00 daily through March 27; he expects legislation coming concerning state testing accountability; the shutdown will be treated as snow days. |

3. Extracurricular Events
Discussion:
The board then took extracurricular events one activity at a time: the 6th grade Delk-Henson Intermediate School to Washington, D.C., was cancelled; the MCHS Chorus New York trip is under consideration; kindergarten registration is cancelled for March 23 with a new date to be set; proms will be rescheduled; the board will revisit athletic events; the Sub Deb Grand March may continue; cheerleading tryouts will be rescheduled; ACT for juniors will be rescheduled.
No action was taken during the meeting. A Special Called meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, March 19 to discuss textbook adoption and extracurricular activities. |
