I. 2026-2027 Budget
Discussion:
The Bedford County Board of Education met for a study session on February 12, 2026 at 5:30 pm in the Board of Education Central Office located at 500 Madison St., Shelbyville, TN. Board members Michael Cook, Brian Crews, Dan Reed, Barton Williams, Glenn Forsee, Lana Craig, Andrea Anderson and Shanna Boyette were present. David Brown was absent. Dr. Tammy Garrett and Tim Harwell were also present.
Chairman Michael Cook opened the meeting. There was much discussion on the 2026-2027 budget. The attached list of highlights were discussed. It will take a 4.029% raise for teachers to get to the state mandated $50,000 a year for first year teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. It was asked if possible to do 5% instead for certified and 4% for classified. Dr. Garrett to ask Robert Daniel to check into that. Other topics in general discussion were Ag Facilities at Cascade and Community, Owner’s Representative, Architect, and Capital Projects. Dr. Garrett spoke on metal detectors at schools and she is to check on cost and a policy for them. The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:15. |
