Maria Castellano, President-Elect of HOSA-FHP, gave a brief speech on the upcoming year in HOSA. A student at Community High School, she is representing the district at the state level in health sciences.

VI.C. Andrea Anderson - Special Question Committee Update
Discussion:
The Special Question Committee consists of Andrea Anderson, Courtney Bogle, Rachel Grijalva and Suzanne Sutton. A poll was conducted to ask eligible voters if they wanted to undertake Collaborative Conferencing. There are 634 eligible voters, 72.2 % completed the poll, and 89% of those cast votes in favor of conferencing. The conferencing will move forward. Special thank you to Rachel for all the work she did and she also received Teacher of the Year.

VI.D. Kline-Swinney / Bell Construction
Discussion:
Eric Pyle explained how they came up with the dollar amount for the new school. Glenn Moreland and Bart Kline answered questions on the numbers and other concerns. This is for 50% drawings and not the final number. The Total Summary is $39,304,119. The Value Analysis is $38,897,996 plus architect fees, FF&E, and technology. The school will hold 800 students. Mr. Cook asked that Dr. Garrett be involved with the City and the County meetings when the architects meet with them.

VI.E. Executive Committee Report
Discussion:
Mr. Cook announced that January 5, 2023 would be a study session at 6:00 pm. Discussion would be on construction and TISA. January 19, 2023 will be the next board meeting held at the Central Office at 6pm. The board retreat will be March 24th and 25th at Sewanee Inn. The February meeting was changed from the 16th to the 9th because the Legislative and Legal Institute is on the same day.
Surplus property declared for the Community Elementary, Central Office 1 and 2. Glenn Forsee asked if a quarterly study session could be done. Brian Crews asked about the cost of FF&E. Dr. Garrett said it would be about $960,000, with another $300,000 for things like refrigerators, ice makers, etc. Technology would also be around $1.2 million and it includes computers for each student, security cameras, panels, etc. Mr. Cook wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! |
