V.D. Consolidated Eplan Budget
Rationale:
The consolidated ePlan is usually conditionally approved by the BOE and then submitted for approval. This year, the ePlan has already been approved and requires BOE acceptance. The attached documents are the budget overview of the entire ePlan which contains over 290 pages.

VII.A.6. Policy 6.4031 - Pediculosis (Head Lice)
Rationale:
A few years ago due to changes in the guidelines from the CDC, the procedures for handling head lice were changed to do away with the "no nit" requirement. At that time, the BOE policy was deemed to still be appropriate as it did not mention "no nits" for readmission after an initial infestation. The policy does however mention that if there are subsequent infestations, that "no nits" would be required for returning to school. Over the past few years, the CDC along with the American Association of Pediatrics and the National Association of School Nurses have agreed that even this requirement for reinfestations is too stringent.
Last year, Mr. Looper and the social workers instituted a "21 day plan" part of which did not allow for the 2 excused days currently in the policy for an infestation and instead required that the child be treated and returned to school the next day. This is in line with the CDC guidelines as well and Mr. Bennett is in agreement with the intent to get the child back in school as soon as possible. This revision just refreshes the current policy to reflect current CDC standards and guidelines and is in line with the best practices policy from TSBA. |
