VI.A. Daisy Denton and Centralized Finance

Daisy Denton made sure that the board members each had a copy of the report of the Summary Financial Statements, and she explained some of the columns.
Her estimated ending fund balance of 10.9 million for this current year (she will continue running these numbers through the end of the fiscal year) Fund Balance of 11.4 million for FY24 Payroll was then discussed. The statement that was made regarding the 143 cafeteria payroll mix up where Justin Mauldin said the county had not received payroll information for an employee was corrected because the county did actually receive that information but the wrong payroll person had it. Daisy then stated that the school system was out of compliance for payroll procedures. Current procedures say that the school system will provide all timesheets and payroll information to the county by the first business day of the month. Norma Mitchell said that she explained at the financial committee meeting on January 9, 2025, that 1 day was not enough time. Norma asked for 5 business days. Daisy said that she would take that request to the payroll department to discuss it. Norma thought that there would be some negotiations at the financial committee meeting last week between 1 and 5 business days. The board is requesting 4 business days to get payroll to the county office. The financial management committee will have to approve the change in their policy. |
