V.C. Approval of CDW-G as a Backup Vendor for Chromebooks
Agenda Item Type:
Action Item
Action(s):
No Action(s) have been added to this Agenda Item.
Discussion:
The Smith County Schools Technology Department asks the Board to approve CDW-G as a backup vendor for Chromebooks for the 2024-2025 school year. When bids were evaluated, CDW-G placed 2nd. The Smith County Board of Education approved Howard Technology Solutions, which placed 1st, as our Chromebook vendor for the 2024-2025 school year at the August Board meeting; however, we have experienced issues with product availability for the Chromebook model submitted by Howard. We placed an initial order of 200 Chromebooks on August 29, 2024, and we have still not received our order. They assure me they have found the inventory to fulfill this initial order, but I am unsure if there will be inventory to fill any additional orders in the future. Approving CDW-G as a backup vendor would allow us to place orders for Chromebooks in a timely manner in the event that Howard is unable to fill future
orders. Howard Cost per Chromebook: $242.00 CDW-G Cost per Chromebook: $247.00 |

We did not receive any bids for the woods work at the Smith County Middle School Wellness Center and restroom partitions/accessories needed at the Smith County Middle School and Gordonsville High School Wellness Center. It has been difficult to find anyone even upon
