Discussion:

Smith County High School FCCLA would like permission to attend the State Leadership Conference in Gatlinburg on March 20-22, 2024 (paperwork turned in last month but was misplaced; trip approved by Mr. Barry H. Smith). This will be an overnight trip.
Smith County High School Girls Basketball requests permission to attend the state tournament as a participant. This will be an overnight trip. Because of the time constraints, the trip was approved by Mr. Barry H. Smith and Mr. Ricky Shoulders.

Discussion: Request to update Policy 4.605 Graduation Requirements to increase the number of credit units required to twenty-eight (28) beginning with the freshmen class of 2024-2025.
This is the first of two readings.

VI. Discussion

Discussion:

Mr. Marty McCaleb requested the need for a public relations spokesperson for this board. Mr. Barry H. Smith will have a person in place by next month and let the board know who it is.

Mr. Randy Glover would like to add to the agenda next month for the board to pay the health insurance premium for all full time non-certified employees with a start date of January 1, 2025. This will eliminate one of the findings from the comptroller.

Mr. Randy Glover would like to add to the agenda next month for a 10% raise for all employees. The funding will come from the school system, not the county budget.

Mr. Scotty Lewis would like to add to the agenda next month to discuss the Director of School’s contract. It will have to be announced separately and must be the first item on the agenda.

Mr. Joe Taylor would like to add to the agenda next month for the board to compensate Scotty Lewis for each meeting with County Commission. The Board of Education will pay this.
