Discussion:  The Smith County Board of Education met at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the Smith County Board of Education. Mr. Lewis provided the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.

Discussion:  Mr. Ricky Shoulders, Chairman of the Board, welcomed all visitors and called the December 13, 2022, meeting of the board to order.

Discussion:  Proposed Smith County Teacher Residency Program

• Pay $125 per day
• Benefits (Health Insurance Paid)
• Must be employed in the Smith County School System (Educational Assistant or Sub)
• Requirements of principal recommendation and Director's approval
• Commit to teach in Smith County for 4 years after completion of the Teacher Licensure Program
• If 4 years are not completed, the applicant is responsible for reimbursement to the Smith County Board of Education of the additional pay plus insurance premiums.
• The applicant has 5 years to complete the Licensure program.
• All positions described here must meet the TN Teacher Licensure Program.

Discussion:  Request to approve the bid of $3.2640 per gallon for 1,200 gallons of gasoline without ethanol and $3.9521 per gallon for 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel for a total of $19,725.20 from Mixon-Nollner Oil Company for delivery on November 22, 2022.

Discussion:  The Compliance Report is one document used by the Tennessee Department of Education in the annual process of approving local education agencies.  LEAs are required to comply with all state education laws and State Board of Education rules.
