Mitchell-Neilson Schools would like to thank Fuzzy’s Taco Shop for donating 25 “free chips and queso” cards and two $20 gift cards for our PBIS drawing. Murfreesboro City Schools would like to thank First Presbyterian Church for their generous donation of food to supplement our Backpack Food Program. Speaking of the Backpack Food Program, Murfreesboro City Schools would like to thank the Walmart Foundation for a $500 grant to support the Backpack Food Program. Murfreesboro City Schools would like to acknowledge the following individuals for donations to the Indigent Care Fund in memory of Linda Cox: Charles Guy Monnett III, Robert and Marilyn Bristol, Harry Hargis, Chad and Angela Withrow, David and Laura Crist, Rene Burke, Prayer Warriors Sunday School Class, Brett and Pamela Hayes, Pensacola VA Laboratory, Joel and Alice Payne, Heather Guthrie, Josh Fulmer, Rhonda Raborn, Regal Title LLC, Chris and Lindsey Ownby, Dr. Linda A. Gilbert, Kristin Sperlich, Amy Walker, Beth Swindle, Donna Murray, Elitha Brassell, Keely Corley, Kelley McCandless, Kim McLean, and Rebecca Lawrence. A memorial was also received from Murfreesboro City Schools. The ESP Winter Wonder Fun Run collected 220 pounds of food for Greenhouse Ministries Community Pantry! WOOHOO! Just one of the reasons we love our ESP/MCS families. Congratulations to Hobgood that has been notified that it will be receiving a Read to Be Ready grant for $22,500. This will be to encourage reading in the summer for twenty students from across the district. Thanks to Kristen Treinen and Caresa Dodson who constructed the application. Murfreesboro City Schools is excited to announce that the Department of Human Services will host their Summer Feeding Summit on January 25 at Tennessee State University and has asked our Food Service Director, Sandy Scheele, to set up a booth and bring the Chow Bus to encourage systems to promote mobile feeding. With Mrs. Scheele's help, several school systems now have a mobile feeding program. A school in Alabama has one, Lebanon Special School District has one, and Metro Action Commission now has four! Trousdale County is in the process of developing a similar program. Thanks to Mrs. Scheele for her positive influence on so many districts that has, in turn, helped so many students. Congratulations to Overall Creek Elementary, Bradley Academy, and Northfield Elementary for being selected by the Tennessee Department of Education and the Tennessee Behavior Supports Project (TBSP) as Silver Level Model of Demonstration Schools for Response to Intervention and Intervention for Behavior (RTI2B). We are also excited to announce that the following schools have achieved recognition by TBSP for the ongoing commitment to implement a multi-tiered system of support for behavior and social learning: Discovery School and Erma Siegel received a Bronze Level of Demonstration and Hobgood Elementary, John Pittard Elementary, Mitchell Neilson Elementary, and Reeves Rogers received a School of Recognition award. We appreciate the hard work and dedication of all schools in improving learning and positive behavior. Thank you to MTSU Men's and Women's tennis team. They will be teaching tennis to students at Cason Lane, Erma Siegel and Discovery School on January 11 and 12 during PE class. Murfreesboro City Schools would like to invite the public to attend the annual African-American Cultural Celebration, Jan 25th, 4-7p.m. at Patterson Community Center. There will be student performances, art exhibits, food tasting, photography exhibit, and other community agencies displays. The City Schools Foundation invites you to attend Excellence in Education on January 26, 2017. The event will be held at the MTSU's new student union center and will feature Reeves-Rogers Elementary. Honorees this year are Drs. Max and Mary Moss. Little Sprouts and MNP invites you to a be a ribbon cutting for their new playground at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan 17. |
