Rationale:
Mitchell-Neilson would like to thank Mansi and Bhupendra Patel for providing lunch for our teachers on our first half day. The Patels have a 5th grader at MNS and are the owners of Subway at the Avenue. Mitchell-Neilson would like to thank the realtors from Parks Realty for participating in our school's Pumpkin Decorating Contest on Halloween. Not only did they donate the pumpkins so that each class at MNS could have one to decorate, they all stopped by to vote on their favorite. One penny = one vote and these generous folks voted over 125 times!! Mitchell-Neilson would like to thank Arnold Farms for their generous donation of hay bales for our LeaderFest (formerly known as Fall Festival). Mitchell-Neilson would like to thank Parks Auction and especially Steve Jarrell for holding the auction at our LeaderFest. Not only is Steve an alumnus of MNS, but his mother, Linda Jarrell, taught school here for 34 years. Mitchell-Neilson would like to thank Tracy Brown, from the City Engineering Department, for donating City maps to Mr. Love’s Class. Mitchell-Neilson would like to thank the Murfreesboro Rotary club for donating dictionaries to all 85 of our 3rd graders! Mitchell-Neilson and Northfield Elementary received $2,000 each during the grand opening of the new Murfreesboro Big Lots. We appreciate Big Lots support of education. Northfield Elementary will be competing in their first Robotics competition on December 9 in Tullahoma. Good luck to the students and staff on this new endeavor. Discovery School's applications are now open and their first school tour was November 9. A parent information meeting is scheduled for Nov 30 with the second school tour scheduled for December 14. Application deadline is January 10. November 13-17 is American Education Week. The National Education Association theme this year is Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility. Congratulations to Kim Frank and the ACEs staff. Their program is being featured as part of a PBS series and with Tennessee State University's educational series regarding Building Strong Brains. Thank you to Barnes and Nobles for their support in our Read 20 program. |
