We are very excited about a new community partnership.  Touchpoint, who is the Food and Nutrition Services for St. Thomas Rutherford, is becoming the sponsor of our Chef's Academy program. We look forward to the knowledge that Touchpoint, literally, brings to the table and the learning opportunities this will provide our students.

Murfreesboro City Schools would like to extend their appreciation to Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher Sorority for the donation of duffle bags to be given to students that are placed in foster care.  The bags contain a blanket, books, and supplies needed for school.

Adventures in Murphry's Burrow has won an honorable mention from the 2017 NATOA Awards! That is the organization that recognizes governmental programming.  Thank you so much for your continued support of fun, quality educational television featuring our kids and our classrooms! Murfreesboro City Schools would like to congratulate Sarah Easterly, Academic Coach at Northfield, has been asked to serve on a state committee to review the content of licensure assessments.

Mitchell Neilson would like to thank the congregation of Hillview Baptist Church for their generous donation of school supplies.

Mitchell Neilson would like to thank the agents of Parks Realty for their generous donations of school supplies to our teachers.  These agents, headed up by Sunnette Peay, spend their own money to buy supplies for the teachers and we couldn't be more grateful.

Mitchell Neilson would like to thank the kind folks at Third Baptist Church for providing a Back to School Lunch for the faculty and staff.  These great partners have provided this delicious lunch and have wrapped our students in prayer for at least the last 10 years.  We are blessed!

Our St. Mark’s Mentors made approximately 500 visits to Reeves Rogers to “make the day” of their Mentees during the 2016-17 school year.  A big Thank You to our Mentors:  Pat Richardson, Larry Richardson, Rich Dendler, Larry Ward, Karen Warren, Joy Rogers, Rev. Craig Goff, Robbie Hooper, Mary Wallace, Maureen Palmer, Bonnie Ward, Pam Parkes, Chuck Parkes, Barbara New, Ann Scales, Debi Lamback, Kenny Luse, Lisa Thayer, Mary Edith McFarland, Claudia Hunter, Jan Hayes, Kathryn Wright, Rev. Mary Dicken, Rene Sharkey, Bernie Sharkey, Patti Daws, Georgene Brinkley, Cindy Flippin, Becky Waldrop, Peggy Harrell, Debra Brown, Olivia Schade, and Linda Honey.  In addition to our Mentors, Marrie Lassiter helped Ms. Carter, third grade teacher, create and implement learning centers for her classroom during the school year.

United Way's 2017 Catalyst Program recognized the Family Resource Center Coordinator, Mrs. Jolene Radnoti, for her attendance and completion of their six-month program.  Catalyst is designed to connect and develop business leaders in the community to become engaged in social responsibility through the means of advocacy, giving, and volunteerism.

Kristy Mall and Angela Bunyi, teachers at Discovery School, have been chosen to represent Murfreesboro City Schools as expert teachers at a conference in Shaghai from August 25th to August 29th.  They will be working with our Chinese partners by teaching reading in the classroom, STEM, and Robotics.  We're extremely proud of these teachers representing MCS as teacher leaders.
