Henry County High School Football Field: Turf Project
Speaker(s):  Mr. James Counce & Mr. Andy Collins
Discussion:  Mr. Andy Collins,  Mr. Jon Davidson, and Henry County High School Football Coach, James Counce, presented updated information to the Board regarding the potential of installing an artificial turf field, or replacing the current turf with natural turf again.

Mr. Collins stated that the estimated cost to install would be anywhere from $691,000 to $700,000. The Henry County Quarterback Club, which is non-profit, has raised more than $470,000 from fundraising efforts. Mr. Collins stated that the Quarterback Club was looking for feedback from the school board regarding their next steps. He asked that the board consider the multiple advantages to having an artificial turf field. Money currently going towards maintenance of the natural field could be appropriated as well, since there are several issues that would need to be addressed if a natural field stays in place; such as the drainage problem.

Board member, Josh Frey, suggested a visit to Dyersburg High School to review the field, since that was the model that Henry County had been looking at. All board members stated that they would be open to hearing more about the advantages of having artificial turf. Dr. Watkins was asked to investigate this request further and provide the board with an update once they had completed their appointment at Dyersburg High School.

Board members received a budget revision form showing were funds were allocated and Dr. Watkins recommended the system place some of that money into the teacher fund for possible new hires and some into the capital fund.

*Motion Passed.
