*Approval of New Director of Schools Contract
Board attorney, Mr. Rob Whitfield, presented a drafted contract to the board.
Items discussed included:
Term of Contract- Dr. Leah Watkins' contract will begin July 15, 2019 and end June 30, 2023. The first year start date will be the 15th and the remaining dates will be adjusted to July 1st.
Compensation- annual salary will be $125,000, payable in equal monthly installments on the last business day of the month of the contract term. However, the July 2019 salary installment shall be reduced in the amount of $5608.98 because it is a partial month ( according, the total salary paid in the first year of the contract term will be $120,192.31).
Benefits- The DIRECTOR will be entitled to health care, dental, vision benefits afforded to other employees of the Henry County School System. Additionally, the DIRECTOR will be reimbursed $110.00 per month toward the cost of family vision and dental insurance. The BOARD will provide the DIRECTOR with a portable computing device and cell phone to be used to carry out duties of the DIRECTOR.
Automobile allotment- In lieu of providing a vehicle, the BOARD shall provide the DIRECTOR an allotment of $750.00 dollars per month to cover the lease or purchase of a vehicle.
Sick Leave- Upon commencement of employment, the DIRECTOR shall be credited 180 days of sick leave, which are being "transferred" from her present employer. a
