Discussion:  The Pledge of Allegiance was led two Harrelson 1st grade students . A moment of silence was recognized by Doug Braden.

Teacher of the Year Recognition
Speaker(s):  Chairman Jim McCampbell & Dr. Brian Norton
Discussion:  Dr. Norton recognized all Teacher of the Year nominees and recipients. Lauren Nash Lisa Olive Becky White Amber Ryan Lisa Ray Patsy Barrow Kayla Berryhill Jammie Adkisson Dr. Norton presented awards and congratulated each recipient.
Harrelson Report
Speaker(s):  Principal, Daniel Armstrong
Discussion:  Mr. Daniel Armstrong spoke briefly about three primary goals at Harrelson School: 1.Give every student a meaningful experience 2.Upgrade our network 3.Grow Mr. Armstrong concluded his portion of the report by stating that with the enforcement of these three goals, Harrelson School, will continue to grow and offer the very best educational experience for each and every student. Mrs. Maria Cox's portion of the report focused on strengths displayed in the classrooms that prepare students for college. Two students, Avery Cox and Garrett Gallion, provided two presentations explaining what has benefited them in the classroom.
*HCHS Band Field Trip Request
Speaker(s):  Mr. Michael Nelson
Discussion:  Mr. Nelson explained that every two years the Henry County High School Marching Band request the opportunity to take students on a major field trip and the time has come for that opportunity once again. This year, members of the Henry County Marching Band are seeking approval to attend New York City, NY. Mr. Nelson explained that students/chaperones would be there for three days. During this time, the band, applied and was approved for a permit to bring their instruments and perform in front of the Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. The students will also tour the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and attend the Disney Broadway musical, The Lion King. Mr. Nelson then asked that these students be granted this opportunity based on the hard-work and merit, not only as individuals, but as the Henry County High School Marching Band.
*2016-2017 School Calendar
Speaker(s):  Dr. Brian Norton & District Calendar Committee Members
Discussion:  Dr. Norton introduced to the board the members of school calendar committee. Members present included: Lisa Hart, Patsy Barrow, Riley Nance, Dana Lampkin, Andrea Fuller,and David Huber. Dr. Norton discussed changes in the proposed calendar. Discussion was had on the calendar.
Policy (First Reading)
Speaker(s):  Dr. Brian Norton
Discussion:  Dr. Norton introduced the proposed policies.
4.605 Graduation Requirements
Discussion:  Dr. Norton explained that this policy which is proposed by the State board, offers special-ed students the option to recieve an alternative diploma. Discussion was had on this matter.
4.700 Testing Programs
Discussion:  Dr. Norton explained the need for policy updates as recommended by TSBA.
5.305 Family and Medical Leave
Discussion:  Dr. Norton discussed the need to update current policy as recommended by TSBA.
6.414 Prevention and Treatment of Sudden Cardiac Arrest
Discussion:  Dr. Norton explained that policy 6.414 is being added do to new legislation and upon recommendation by TSBA.
Director's Report
Speaker(s):  Dr. Brian Norton
Discussion:  Testing Updates Inclement weather/stock pile days Dr norton discussed TN READY and confident that Henry County Schools are ready for online testing. Dr. Norton provided testing dates. Dr. Norton informed the board that the first student athletic code committee had been held. Dr. Norton thanked the board for the opportunity to attend the AASA National Conference . Adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
