Storm Safe Shelters
Speaker(s):  Sam Miles
Discussion:  Mr. Miles stated that there were no new updates. Construction on storm safe will not start until next year.
Spotlight (HCHS Top 3)
Speaker(s):  Deborah Arnold
Discussion:  Deborah Arnold guidance counselor at HCHS introduced top 3 Kaitlyn Evan - Honorable Mention Miranda Brooke Rose - Salutetatorian Julia Reimold - Valedictorian Mr. Miles and the board congratulated all students.
Budget Amendment
Discussion:  Budget amendment 141-22 - Building Improvements for 4 AC units at Henry Budget amendment 141-27 - Adult Ed
Update on Common Core
Speaker(s):  Sam Miles & Dr. Renea Wade
Discussion:  K-8 math common core curriculum will be introduced during the next school year. Common core standards prepare students to be college and career ready according to Mr. Miles. Board members were given summer schedules for trainings that are being mandated by the state. Common core and pacing guides was discussed among the board.
Update on TEAM (Principal & Teacher Evaluation) Training
Speaker(s):  Sam Miles & Dr. Renea Wade
Discussion:  Mr. Miles complimented administrators and teachers on their use of evalution process this year. According to Miles, Henry County has used the evaluation system to have good conversations about what good teaching looks like. Mr. Miles explained that all administrators are required to be re-trained this summer. There was discussion about changes that are being proposed about the evaluation process.
Director's Report

Henry County Prevention Coalition Grant
Speaker(s):  Stephanie Winders & Josh Greer
Discussion:  Mr. Miles introduced Josh Greer and Stephanie Winders to discuss the new grant that was received. The grant is a 3 year re-occuring grant for $40,000. The grant will focus on drug prevention in the community.
TN National Wildlife Refuge Grant
Discussion:  Mr. Miles notified the board about the grant that was written by Joan Stevens with the TN Wildlife Resource Agency. Mr. Miles mentioned that PSSD and Henry County teachers were involved in writing the curriculum which is tied to standards for science and math so that students could participate in fieldtrips and experience the new Wildlife Refuge.
Budget Update
Discussion:  Mr. Miles informed the budget committee that he would like to meet briefly following the board meeting to set a budget committee meeting time to review next years budget.
Graduation
Discussion:  Mr. Miles reminded the board of graduation on Friday night.
Summer Board Retreat Dates
Discussion:  The board confirmed the summer board retreat dates of July 12th and 13th. Chairman Reimold reminded the board that the Director's evaluation would be due by June 1st. Adjourn 4:52
